As the summer is starting to come to an end, I have been reflecting on my summer as it has been full of learning experiences, old friends and new friends. I have had many opportunities to learn from some the greats in the horse industry, not just barrel racers but truly great horsemen and women.
July and August have been busy months for us at LoneStar Riding Academy, home to SL Barrel Horses. As you know, in May we met with the owner of Corral’s R Us to discuss a design for the next phase of our build. Heidi and I met with Daniel and hashed out what are first 9-stall shedrow would look like. We had an idea in our heads and Daniel was able to put it to paper for us.

A couple of weekends ago, Kayla and I attended a Sharon Camarillo/Donna Irvin “Better Barrel Racing” Clinic as audits. For $100, we were able to visit Falling Oak Ranch, in Salinas, CA, for the two day clinic, sit at the end of the arena and watch 2 incredibly talented women teach a stellar group of girls how to be better barrel racers and horsewomen.
